A Winter's Day

Sharp crunch of snow boots
Tips of summer grass welcome
the fleeting solstice

I do love seeing the tips of the grass in the snow, it always reassures me that summer is lurking somewhere down there!

Snow is just a blanket, hiding summer away from view for a while.

Very expressive of that fleeting moment!

Ah! I can hear the crunching!

Winter is always an interesting coalescence of seasons. All are apparent at once. It's a neat thing. Thanks for this.

That's about how much snow we usually receive, though this year we have a bit more!

In some places the snow is so fleeting. Here is Alabama, we are waiting for a glimpse of a flake. No white Christmas for us. Thank you for sharing this poem.

isn't the fleeting nature of solstice interesting? takes so long on either side of both of them...but the instance is remarkable.

Thanks for the poignancy of these lines!
