Farewells

Staying up past dawn
Immortal notions of youth
Smiles on a smooth face

~~~
last breath in my arms --
nestled in a hand-hewn box,
but snug in my heart
Oh, the immortality of love. How we need it to mitigate the pain of loss.
These were beautiful...I especially liked the first one because it reminded me of my teen daughter who is a night owl to the extreme. :~)
Love both verses. Farewell also to the stomach of youth -- being able to devour bags of chips and gallons of ice cream, with no consequences!
Your second poem reminded me so sharply of the death of my "first" cat -- who slept on my pillow for 20 years before dying there quietly and naturally.
It's a good thing we can't see around the corner...
Lovely ones, H.T.!
Loved both the fare-thee-wells...
and the obvious depth of love you feel towards your younger self/children and your beloved pet.
Many thanks--
A lot said so succinctly, enjoyed both of these, they took me back in time.
Love these - the first one carries such a 'past' and the second carries the 'now'.
I enjoyed both of these -- one at the beginning of life's journey and the other at the end.
I don't know how many more tears I can cry while reading this heart tearing poetry. Wonderful and well written.
