Water-worn wood dips
down into quickening streams
lift up, down, up, down...

Your phrase 'water-worn wood' is just lovely. I like alliteration to begin with, then add to this the wonderful visual image. This one touches many senses - I can hear the water, the creaking wheel, smell the wet rocks in this.

lovely description, goes well with the image

How peaceful, the sound of the water as it fall from the wheel, promising ever to return.

Great description of the water wheel, there.

The repetition of "w" in the first line sets the poem up so well for the last line of "up" and "down". Well done.

Mesmerizing sight. Your poem is so visual.

Excellent. The rhythm of this poem has me thinking of the rhythm of aging relationships.

beautiful alliteration & even without a photo, very vivid words.

I can hear the squeaks that have been squeaking for a century. And the little splashes that have been splashing for even longer.

Lovely haiku!
